Kevin Lawler

Kevin Lawler is a poet, playwright, director, designer, actor and producer. He has served as the Artistic Director of The Great Plains Theatre Commons since 2009. Lawler co-founded the award-winning Blue Barn Theatre in Omaha in 1989. He has written and directed over 100 local and national productions. His plays have been produced in New York, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Lincoln. He has directed, performed, and toured on hundreds of stages across the Midwest and East coast. Lawler has been recognized with awards for his writing, acting and direction. In 2012, he was made an honorary member of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska for his work, through the Great Plains Theatre Commons, as the producer of Mary Kathryn Nagle’s Waaxe’s Law.
